Are We There Yet?
Do you question your committment to defeating Trump?
Have you had enough? Are you truly mad 24/7? Do you genuinely worry about your family’s health and safety? The rise of Nazi extremism affecting international students, the press, and naturalized citizens should alarm you. Does the leasing of a death camp in El Salvador cross the line for you? Do you uphold the principles of due process and the idea of innocent until proven guilty? Are you concerned about your family's privacy? It is unacceptable that ICE agents operate in masks without identifiable uniforms. Your citizenship is now subject to government scrutiny at any moment. Are you aware of how laws across this nation are making it perilous and frightening to be a woman? Are you outraged that lawyers—critical in the fight against the destructive agenda of Trump—are being targeted? The layers of protection against an unlawful, abusive government are eroding as we speak. Will you be able to cope with an extended economic crisis? Do you know someone who will need community support for food, housing, or medical care?
Do you care that our public schools are being set up to fail? Are you aware that the Republican Party has embraced extremist, discriminatory, and hateful beliefs espoused by Evangelicals who are not living in accordance with the teachings of Christ? Did you know some Evangelical churches advocate for violence against citizens, LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, and anyone who dares to challenge their narrow view?
ARE YOU READY TO GO BEYOND simply marching in protest? Are you frustrated that Democrats are lagging behind? We must unite, educate ourselves, and seek allies among legal and judicial leaders, religious figures, former federal employees, retired politicians, military, police, firefighters, teachers, and all educators across colleges and universities—especially Baby Boomers who have weathered some of the most turbulent times in the 20th century.
We must learn how to resist, stall, halt, and ultimately remove every single leader of this American Nazi Regime.
It’s clear that manners and morality were baked into the very fabric of our Constitution. Did our founders not foresee that the wealthy, power-hungry, and manipulative could seize our democracy for their gain?
TODAY WE TAKE ACTION! Politicians across this nation must recognize our expectations for fearlessness, courage, and integrity. If they whine, support this “government,” show cowardice, or associate with Trump in any way (even over a charming dinner), they will be treated as personas non grata.
Every single politician can be replaced. Every day we delay action is another day that Trump and the MAGA advance a Project 2025 agenda.
It’s time to stand up and fight back.
I have, indeed had more than enough! I can’t comprehend the depth of depravity that we have plumbed with installing this despicable individual as our ruler, nor the lack of control we have in this rapid drop to the rule of so odious a despot.
It seems that there is no redress to be had from our carefully crafted laws, for all seems to be suspended in the favor of the mob that is MAGA.
Is our only recourse an obedience to the government that has need arrayed against us? It’s CC clear that the constitution has been broken, and that all guarantees of the law are null.
In such a case, what did the colonists do to gain relief from George? How else are we to recoup our loss of the government of, by, and for the people? Real actions must happen, or we are lost forever.
Time to form a strong rebellion!
I don't believe anyone who reads or subscribes to progressive writings is not committed to defeating trump and his allies. I won't focus on the failings of SCROTUS in preemptively absolving trump from the horrors he would inflict as president. Since they were eminently predictable, it was also pre-ordained that he would stretch, claw and scrape all norms. It was one tiny step for him and his agents to move from the decimation of norms to complete rejection of actual laws and regulations (collectively "law").
That reality confronts us as Americans. Following the law is now optional. trump is emboldened by SCROTUS' silence; the void created by its abdication of authority, and its obligation to support its lesser courts, has created the constitutional disaster its decisions foretold.
SCROTUS' enforcement tools are abysmally limited. After worrying this issue for weeks, I've concluded that holding-and jailing--DOJ attorneys in contempt, following their appearances without judicially ordered information, is probably the only mechanism that may work. As the number of censured attorneys hollows out DOJ--much like the federal agencies torn asunder by musk--perhaps the loss will register and affect change.
